On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, SVRTC awardees, division leaders, and guests joined together to celebrate the hard work of educators across Southside Virginia. For the first time in three years, the banquet celebration was held in person. The banquet guests included 105 people from 20 SVRTC counties: Amelia, Brunswick, Buckingham, Charlotte, Colonial Heights, Cumberland County, Danville, Dinwiddie, Greensville, Halifax, Henry, Hopewell, Lunenburg, Martinsville, Mecklenburg, Nottoway, Petersburg, Pittslyvania, Prince Edward, and Sussex County.
Welcoming comments were shared by Dr. Larissa M. Smith, Longwood University’s Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. Dr. Paula Leach, Director of Longwood University’s ITTIP then presented to the group by sharing SVRTC accomplishments for the academic year. In addition to the list of 2023 Awardees, the announcement and celebration of the two SVRTC competitive awards were shared. This year the Technology Leadership for the 2022-23 school year was awarded to Elizabeth Fulcher, Director of Technology and Innovation for Henry County Public Schools. This year’s Division Leadership recipient was Dinwiddie County Public Schools.
The banquet concluded with closing remarks from the Dean of the College of Education, Health, and Human Services, Dr. Angela McDonald.
